HOW TO GET “UNSTUCK”



Are you feeling stuck? Do you feel like you’re reacting to the same thing the same way? How do you go about changing your life and your interaction with the world.

Well, let’s chat about Predictive Processing. Predictive processing is a theory that our brain takes in information and then predicts the outcome. Without diving too deep into the theories around what changes these beliefs, as humans, our brain is constantly trying to avoid prediction errors. Prediction errors take a toll, and the brain is protecting you from them.

States and beliefs like “Homeostasis,” “Comfort Zone,” and “Confirmation Bias” are your brains way of protecting you. If we get out of these states and go into unfamiliar places, we get high prediction errors.

So guess what, your brain is doing everything it can to PROTECT you from these places, and keeping you stuck.

Your brain will even trigger feelings of fear, anxiety, or discomfort to stick to a more reliable pattern or habit with low prediction errors.

How do you change that? We can tell our brain that the short term higher prediction errors are temporary and will lead to lower prediction errors. To me, it’s about self awareness. Being AWARE of the emotion, the habit. Notice it, let the shame go, and start the pattern tracing.

You have the power, and your brain just needs to know it’s safe. All you need is the willpower and the desire to change, to move, to grow, and to be the version of you you always were.
