Most of our life we spend in highly stressful environments. We’re in what’s called “Fight or Flight” where our nervous system is protecting us. We can put ourself in this from outward stress or inner stress.
When we have emotional trauma stored in our bodies, we see threats that correlate to past experiences. We have a database that triggers a response because similar events have happened in the past. Your partner may yell at you and it triggers you with your mother as a child doing the same. You may smell a certain scent and you’re transported right back to childhood where something happened when that scent was present detected as a threat.
Our trauma’s are written into this database at an early age. They exist in our bodies, and we access them through our subconscious. Dr. Bruce Lipton stated we are in what’s called “Theta” up until we are 7 years old. What’s “Theta?” When our brain is experiencing the Theta Brain Wave State, this is where our behaviors, reactions, and how we view the world are written, logged and captured.
When we move into adolescence and adults, we come out of Theta and move up the brain wave ladder into Alpha, Beta, and Delta to sleep. Theta, or the bridge to the subconscious is harder to achieve.
In order to heal our trauma that was experienced up to 7 years old, we need to achieve the Theta Brain Wave State. We do experience Theta at times. It’s that moment right before you fall asleep, or right when you wake up. Ever had a great idea in that time and forgot to write it down. I know I’m guilty. This is where we have true access to who we truly are.
